Local Incentives:

*These incentives are at the discretion of the Development Authority of Bryan County and local governments.  They are evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and the following factors are considered to determine if a project is eligible:  number of new jobs to be created, investment (real and personal property) to be made, and wage breakdown.

State Incentives:

  • Georgia’s corporate income tax

  • Quality Jobs Tax Credit

    • Credit value ranges from $2,500 to $5,000 per job, per year for up to five years

    • Credits may offset a company's payroll withholding once all other corporate income tax liability has been exhausted

    • Rewards companies that create at least 50 jobs in a 12-month period provided the jobs pay wages that are at least 10 percent higher than the county average

  • Georgia’s job tax credit (Military Zone)

    • Interstate Centre (all phases), and the Belfast Commerce Park are all in a Military Zone, which means companies locating will receive $3,500 per job per year for a five year period

    • Eligibility for the credit includes the following - a minimum of two full-time jobs that offer a 35-hour work week, offer health insurance benefits, and pay more than the average wage of the county with the lowest average wage in the state ($686/week as of June 2024)

    • Excess tax credits may be applied to the state payroll withholding liability (after first meeting it's state income tax liability)

    • Once a project qualifies, it opens a five-year period in which each job created can earn a JTC each year for five years as long as the job is maintained.  If the project creates net new jobs above the minimum threshold (two jobs), a new five-year period begins

    • A qualifying job can earn the Quality Job Tax credit or the Job Tax Credit, but not both

  • Ports activity job tax credit bonus

  • Sales & use tax exemptions on machinery & equipment

  • Elimination of sales & use tax on energy used in manufacturing

  • Inventory tax exemption

  • Hiring & training assistance

  • Expedited environmental permitting
